METRO 2039 is set in post-apocalyptic Moscow in the year 2039, a world where nuclear war ravaged the land and forced the population to live underground in the Metro tunnels. The surface is deadlier than ever, with the surface thawing and irradiated, and new dangers lurking above and below the surface.  

METRO 2039 is a brand new entry in the METRO video game franchise with an original story from 4A Games, written in collaboration with METRO author Dmitry Glukhovsky. It is not based on a specific book by Dmitry, but is inspired directly by the world and stories he created.

Dmitry Glukhovsky is a prominent author, journalist and activist best known for writing the post-apocalyptic book series METRO. 4A Games have crafted this new story in the METRO videogame series in collaboration with Dmitry Glukhovsky.   

METRO 2039 is the next METRO title in the series with a brand new original story from 4A Games. 

Despite the series 16-year history, METRO 2039 is a good jumping on point for new fans, with a new protagonist and new cast of complex and compelling characters. Legacy fans will appreciate its authenticity to the series and ties to the existing universe.
